Mentorship Program

 

The Impact Leadership Living Learning Community Mentor position is a dedicated student leader position. Impact Leadership Mentors are assigned 5-6 residents to whom they will provide resources, help in the transition to ECU, and serve as role models. Mentors will work closely with the Assistant Director for Living Learning Communities to facilitate social/educational programs, mentee group meetings, study groups, and service learning initiatives for the first-year students involved in the Living Learning Community.

Responsibilities:
  • Work under the direction of the Assistant Director for LLCs to provide social and educational programs
  • Attend bi-weekly mentor meetings
  • Attend bi-weekly 1-on-1 meetings with the Assistant Director for LLCs
  • Meet individually with mentees
  • Facilitate assigned mentee group meetings
  • Fulfill all programming requirements, including promoting and participating in organized events with mentees
  • Help mentees become familiar with ECU resources including academic, personal, and social engagement
  • Participate in training prior to the beginning of the fall semester and throughout the academic year, as needed
  • Assist in fall and spring open house events to promote the Impact Leadership LLC
  • Participate in the ECU Leads program
  • Fulfill all Impact Leadership requirements
Roles and Expectations:
  • Attend the spring mentor training
  • Participate in the Impact Leadership program
  • Move into Jarvis Residence Hall a week before the residence halls open
  • Attend and participate in the Impact Leadership fall retreat and mentor training
  • Demonstrate an academic commitment by maintaining a cumulative and semester GPA of at least 2.75
  • Act as role models for first-year students by exhibiting behaviors consistent with the student code of conduct
  • Have and maintain a clean record of conduct
  • Be present and available for meetings, programs, and mentees
  • Promote activities and involvement that support the Impact Leadership LLC outcomes
  • Be community builders by assisting in the planning of programs for the Impact Leadership program

Compensation:
  • $1,000 scholarship toward your housing in 2021-2022 (if you are planning on returning to campus in 2021-2022)
  • $250 bookstore voucher given in December 2020 and May 2021
  • $250 in the form of a check for mentors planning on graduating in spring 2021 and not returning to campus
Timeline:
  • March 23: Application Due by 11:59 p.m.
  • April 1-2: Interviews
  • April 6: Notification of Status
  • April 10: Confirmation of Commitment
  • April 24: Spring Mentor Retreat
