Return to Campus Living 2026

Time is coming up to think about housing for the 2026-2027 Academic Year!

Online Application Period Starts February 2, 2026 for All Returning Students.

Campus Living encourages students to consider all the options, including returning to living on campus in the residence halls.  Living in the heart of Pirate Nation is convenient and keeps you in the middle of campus life.

Space for current ECU students to live on campus will be limited. If you are returning to live on campus for 2026-2027, you can expect to live in 1 of 5 halls we are holding for returning students: College Hill Suites, Scott Hall, Tyler Hall, Garrett Hall, and Jarvis Hall (all female option). Due to ongoing hall renovations, single rooms will continue to be greatly reduced for 2026-2027.

2026-2027 Return Housing Process

This is the process for Current Students who are living on campus now for the 2025-2026 academic year. If you lived with us a previous academic year and want to return to live on campus for 2026-2027, email housing@ecu.edu for access to the Housing Application. Spaces for 2026-2027 are limited, so we encourage students to sign up during the online contracting dates noted below.

Returning to live on campus is a two-part process:

  • Part 1 (February) – you will complete a housing application online, which includes electronically signing a housing contract and paying an application fee.
  • Part 2 (April) – you will select a room on campus (see below) or have Campus Living assign your room.

Online Contracting Dates:

February 2, starting 9:00 am through February 9, ending at 5:00 pm. Applying during this periodguaranteesa space in on-campus housing for next year.

  • After this time, the contract may not be available and students may be placed on a waiting list. The waiting list does not guarantee that you will receive on-campus housing for next year.
  • To complete the 2026-2027 Academic Year Application, students will log into the housing portal through PiratePort, sign the legally binding Housing Contract within the application, pay a $135 Application Fee, and click Submit to submit the application. This Application Fee is nonrefundable.
  • After students complete and submit the housing application, they will also be able to search for, select, and confirm a roommate, if desired. Their requested roommate must also confirm and sign a housing contract by February 9, 2026, to ensure a placement together. Students only gain access to the roommate portal once their housing application is complete and submitted!
  • Students who wish to have an incoming student as a roommate must contact Campus Living at housing@ecu.edu by March 1, 2026, at 5 pm to request a hold on a bed space for the incoming requested roommate. Include the following information when you email Campus Living: Banner ID, Name, birth date.
  • To be eligible to select their own housing assignment (room within the offered halls) for 2026-27, students must submit their housing application by February 9, 2026.

Room selection will occur in April. More information will be shared as we get closer to April. Current students returning to live on campus for 2026-2027 will be housed in College Hill Suites, Scott Hall, Tyler Hall, Garrett Hall, or Jarvis Hall ONLY. Legacy Hall is NOT available for returning students. There are limited single rooms available.

No Room Selection:

Students who submit a housing contract and DO NOT select a specific room will have their room chosen by Campus Living later in the semester. Students living on campus currently, and other Returning Students will be assigned before the new incoming class.

Singles or Specialty Rooms:

We will publish a list of Singles and Specialty Rooms before the start of room selection. Students will have an opportunity to select a single room during room selection and first come, first served. You should expect most spaces to be double rooms. Campus Living does not manage a wait list for singles or specialty rooms.

Not Sure if You Want to Remain on Campus?

You can sign up, select a room in April, and cancel your contract on or before May 1, 2026, and only forfeit the $135 Application Fee. After May 1, 2026, there are significant penalties for cancelling your Housing Contract. This is a legally binding contract.

I want to live in Ballard Hall, Greene Hall or one of the other Living Learning Communities:

Greene Hall and Ballard Hall are reserved for new and returning students in Living Learning Communities. If you are eligible for placement in Greene Hall or Ballard Hall or another LLC hall, you will receive information on how you will be assigned.

Please email housing@ecu.edu with questions.
