Gretchen has served for over 25 years in a variety of roles within Student Housing, over 20 of those with ECU Campus Living. She received degrees from Michigan State University and the University of Florida, and has contributed to the student development profession in multiple leadership, service, and mentoring roles. Originally from Michigan, Gretchen enjoys spending time with her family, running, listening to podcasts, and traveling. Two favorite spots to spend free time are Walt Disney World and the beach.

Waz started at ECU in 1994, after working at the University of San Francisco, Loyola University-New Orleans and Western Illinois University. She has been very active in ACUHO-I, (Association of College University Housing Officers-International), and served as the Chair of the Program Committee and the STARS Committee. Waz enjoys creating communities and programs which are inclusive and welcoming. She has a strong interest in mental health issues and crisis management and finds a lot of joy in working with LLCs as well hall governments and RHA. She is originally from New York, but, grew up in Wisconsin and enjoys spending time with family and friends, being outdoors, and going to the beach. She loves shelties, emerald green and reliving her college years, one of the best times of her life, through the new first year students!

Emily joined Campus Living in the summer of 2022, having spent 4 years as a student employee in the department. She is a recent graduate of the university and a native of Eastern North Carolina, being from Rocky Mount. She works closely with Residence Life and has a passion for helping others in any way she can. In her free time, she enjoys watching any crime-action tv series, cooking, and soaking up the sun at North Topsail Beach (NC).

Dana joined the ECU Residence Life family in the summer of 2014. As a first generation graduate, she is a strong proponent of community connection and support. Dana comes to us from northwest Pennsylvania, and while she misses the fall leaves, she does not miss snow. During the day, Dana assists in student (and community) development, learning, and accountability. When not at work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, son, two children, and forever puppy; being outdoors; and getting lost in a good book.

Dr. Peele joined the ECU Residence Life family in the summer of 2023, after serving in other capacities at the university since 2022. She is natively from Raleigh, North Carolina, but has lived all across the state. She completed a BA in Sociology from Fayetteville State University, a MEd in Student Personnel Administration in Higher Education from University of North Carolina Greensboro, and an EdD in Educational Leadership from Fayetteville State University. Her passion and research focuses are supporting underrepresented students and creating avenues for change in the areas of student access and success. When not at work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and children, traveling, and getting to serve the community with her sorority.

Chase started at ECU in the summer of 2018, having moved here from Gainesville, Florida, where he was for the previous 6 years while earning his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Florida. Chase started his career in college housing and residence life in the Fall of 2012 as a Resident Advisor, worked his way up to being a Graduate Hall Director, to a Hall Coordinator, to now serving as the Assistant Director for Residence Life for Learning/Thematic Communities. He is passionate about student mattering, supporting students in crisis, and providing residents with the best possible on-campus experience as they transition into this new and exciting stage of their lives. You will likely see him walking to meetings around campus, enjoying coffee at the Starbucks in the Main Campus Student Center, or walking his dog, Charlie, around campus.

Brandy Alexander-Daniels is the Associate Director of Campus Living Off-Campus Students and Hospitality Services. She’s received her undergraduate degree from East Carolina University, and her Master’s Degree from North Carolina State University. Brandy returned to work at ECU in the Spring of 2014. Prior to that she worked at Vidant Medical Center with college students. Brandy has served in roles of being a student Resident Advisor, Hall Director, Assistant Director, and now an Associate Director. Originally from Hobgood, NC she enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, being involved in local community engagement, and mentoring young adults! You will often see her in the drive-thru at Starbucks!

Julia then moved to North Carolina to attend Elon University, where she worked as a Graduate Apprentice for Residence Life while studying for her M.A in Higher Education, which she earned in May of 2024 before moving to Greenville for her first professional position here with ECU Campus Living! She also served as an Orientation Assistant under Student Transitions for two summers and has a background in recreation. As a student, Chelsea was involved in a wide variety of campus and community activities, including Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity. Robert supervises the Campus Living Facility Teams to directly address facility concerns our students and staff. In the hopes to bridge any anxiety of being new to campus and away from home, his team strives to be approachable for the needs of the students and staff. This goes hand in hand with one of his sayings, “We can fix anything if we know about it”. His staff and himself are personally involved in our facilities daily, so students and staff have a familiarity and comfort with who is working on their issues, in the hopes of giving Pirates a more relaxed atmosphere while away from home. After 28 years of working at Campus Living, this approach has produced wonderful results. Away from campus, he enjoys family time, outdoor activities and personal projects.
