Athletic Leadership Living Learning Community

Created by the ECU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, the Athletic Leadership Living Learning Community offers enrollment for student-athletes who desire to identify and refine their leadership skills. Residence in the LLC features a curriculum and activities that assist participants in determining and developing both characteristics and traits of effective leadership in addition to fostering a sense of belonging at ECU, identity exploration, academic skill development and major/career exploration.

The ECU School of Business has an outstanding relationship with Trust’s Leadership Institute. This collaboration allows student-athletes living in the LLC to achieve a Leadership Certificate after their first year. To obtain certification, student-athletes are taken through a curriculum that is integrated into their COAD 1000 class. The curriculum they go through has them analyze their leadership strengths and beliefs, explore different mindsets and behaviors, how they lead under stress, as well as how to lead others who do not lead like them.

Student-athletes are placed into the LLC by their coaches.
