Innovation Living Learning Community

The Innovation Living Learning Community is housed at Ballard East, one of ECU’s newest and most exciting campus living environments where students will join others from all academic disciplines with a unique opportunity to explore, develop and create innovative entrepreneurial ideas.

To take full advantage of this unique opportunity, Innovation scholars will network with other students and faculty from across the university who share common interests in innovation and entrepreneurship, thus furthering students’ ability to apply classroom theory to real world practice.

Students accepted into the LLC will be guided by our Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Engagement Advisory Team, which will mentor and support students as they complete the entrepreneurship certificate in addition to their academic degree. Students will engage in solving real world problems by getting them out of the classroom and into the community to do hypotheses generation, customer discovery, ideation, prototyping, and venture launch.

Innovation scholars will later develop a team-based microbusiness plan to address a need identified with a community in eastern North Carolina. Innovation teams will then have an opportunity to seek investment capital from a university-based venture fund. Projects approved for funding will have an opportunity to launch their business in communities throughout eastern North Carolina upon graduation. Our primary goal is to help students succeed academically and be ready to fulfill their career aspirations.
